Mary McEnroe

Mary McEnroe dreamed of learning to fly as a young girl, but it wasn't until she was in her early forties that she had the financial means to make it happen. She received her private pilot certificate in 2017 and has been flying Pilots n Paws missions in addition to taking friends, family and coworkers up for their first flights in a small airplane. She loves sharing aviation with others and is actively involved in the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, acting as a student pilot mentor since 2017 and holding positions as an officer and Membership Chair.

Mary earned her seaplane rating in 2022 and fell in love with flying on floats. Her dream is to become a seaplane instructor, but for now, she is working on obtaining her instrument rating. She has faced financial, maintenance and weather delays in getting to this point, but has made great progress this year and is looking forward to completing the rating. While the training can be challenging, Mary loves instrument flying with all its structure and procedures. If the seaplane CFI dream doesn't work out as a retirement job, she is considering becoming a CFII in the future.
