Lillian Mutch

My name is Lillian Mutch and I'm from Klamath Falls, Oregon. Prior to learning how to fly, my professional career entailed eight years as a professional graphic designer, followed by a career change in 2022 into the field of dental assisting, where I am currently employed. In 2023 I started to learn how to fly. I've always loved to explore, and my initial interest in aviation was from a desire to explore the local area more. I've flown to airports in both Oregon and Washington and would like to venture out even more! There's so much to appreciate from the sky and the adventure of going there! As I've gotten my feet wet in aviation, I've come to appreciate many more aspects of the field, from learning maintenance from A&P mechanics to getting involved in the local community. I'm a part of The Ninety-Nines Oregon Pines Chapter serving as Secretary and have participated in many flying events, jumping at any excuse to fly!
I am currently pursuing an instrument rating and have used the funds from the Debbie Franceus Aviation Memorial Scholarship to fund the airplane rental and instruction cost. I've completed the 50-hour PIC cross-country requirement as well as 15 hours of instrument instruction. After the instrument rating, I would like to continue to pursue the commercial certificate as the next step to becoming a Certified Flight Instructor. Flying has transformed into a passion and something that I would love to share with others. Although my route to discovering flight was a roundabout one, I feel I have found inspiration through initiatives and communities like The Ninety-Nines. These groups have enabled me to pursue this idea and turn it into a reality. I look forward to contributing more as a member of the aviation community as a CFI one day.
